Yooka-Replaylee Demo Drops—Here’s What We Loved (and What’s Still Missing)

Yooka-Replaylee Demo Just Dropped

Less than three weeks before launch, Playtonic has dropped a free demo of Yooka-Replaylee. I strapped in immediately, curious if this remaster lives up to the buzz.

The familiar duo, echoing Banjo-Kazooie’s charm, flits through vibrant realms. You collect gems, quills—you name it—to unlock dazzling new stages. And those transformations? Wild. From a bulldozer barreling through crates to schooling fish flitting across platforms, I nearly choked on my coffee when the pirate ship spat fire with incredible force.

Cosmetic options let you deck out the duo in goofy hats or scarves—pointless yet oddly charming. Why sweat vanity? I giggled more than once.

Performance and Quirks

In our quick spin, cave corridors felt snug, the open deck of the ship breezy and bright. The frame rate hovered at a solid 45 FPS—no mind-bending dips, just a couple of tiny stutters upon impact. That glitch when you spin into enemies? Annoying but fleeting, like stepping on a Lego.

We haven’t seen all the bosses yet—mystery reigns. But what’s clear is the demo’s brevity. It leaves you wanting more.

Countdown to October

The full package sails on October 9th to Xbox Series X/S, PS5, PC, and Nintendo Switch 2, tagged at $29.99. Oh, and if you own the original? They’ll shave 30 percent off. That’s a pretty sweet deal, right?

What do you think? Dive into the demo, then drop a comment below or ping us on Facebook and Instagram—let’s chatter about your favorite transformation.

Before you leave, why not check some Poki games to play online for free. And Train Sim World 6 brings chaos to the rails with random events & early access this September.
