Slime Rancher 2 Finally Launches This Fall—Here’s What’s New in Version 1.0

Slime Rancher 2 Gets Full Release

Slime Rancher 2 will properly launch on September 23, 2025—just in time to satisfy our inner slime cravings. Monomi Park is finally stamping the game “1.0,” and we’re looking at PC (Steam, Epic), PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S. It’s been a long haul—three years of tweaks, fixes, and content drops—but hey, good things take time, right?

Believe it or not, September 23 is almost the exact anniversary of the early access debut (which was September 22, 2022). Kind of poetic, isn’t it? I’ve been there since day one, collecting Tabby Slimes by moonlight. This date symmetry feels like a wink from the developers: “We’ve grown together, now let’s celebrate.”

What’s New in 1.0

Quantum Drones are the headline act this time around. These nifty robots automate your entire ranch, from gathering rock slime deposits to feeding your fluffs. Seriously, they feel like tiny, helpful sidekicks—like if R2-D2 got a farm simulator upgrade. Beyond that, Monomi Park is opening fresh Labyrinth tunnels to explore: think twisting corridors, secret nooks, and eldritch slime surprises. And yes, there are new blueprints for décor, gadgets, and upgrades sprinkled throughout. Will your ranch ever look this good? Probably not, but at least you can try.

Collectibles, Art, and Editions

If you’re craving more than just digital goo, Monomi Park has teamed up with RPG artist Yusuke Naora for exclusive artwork on the physical editions. Standard copies include a fold-out poster showcasing those stunning illustrations. The iam8bit Exclusive Edition? It piles on an illustrated sleeve, a six-slime sticker sheet, and a fancy O-sleeve. Pre-order fans will also snag the official soundtrack as a free digital download code. Heads up: physical editions ship January 14, 2026 for PlayStation and Xbox.

Why I’m Still Hooked

Slime Rancher 2 isn’t just another sequel. It captures the endless wonder of the 2017 indie hit—first-person exploration, cute creature collecting, and just enough ranch-sim chill to keep you cozy. The new island’s ancient tech and oddball slime breeds feel fresh, even after three years of tweaks. Honestly, I can’t wait to see what weird goo I’ll stumble on first.
