Watch Dogs Bug Sees Player Lose all Progression, Items and Skills

Dogs

It seems that Watch Dogs didn’t get the perfect release that every gamer had hoped for. Instead, on the official forums, a very scary Watch Dogs bug has been announced, a game breaking bug that has players lose all their in-game progression, weapons, outfits and unlocked skills. Really scary.

Posting on the forums on the Xbox One section of the game, one user wrote:

“Got discovered and killed while tailing someone, respawned in free roam, all my weapons were gone, outfit was default, and all my skills (crafting and such that I had unlocked to date) were still unlocked in the skill tree, but I could not use them.”

The player was already level 25 when this happened, so you can imagine that it’s pretty bad. Fortunately, Ubisoft were quick to ask for more details and hopefully they will have a fix for this soon, especially because cleaning the game’s cache or loading a save file doesn’t fix it.

So far, this Watch Dogs bug that sees you lose all your progression has only been reported on PCs and Xbox One, so apparently the other platforms are safe. Or players didn’t run into something similar yet.

What about you? Did you encounter this problem? And if you did, most important – were you able to fix it somehow?

  1. Yes, I had the same thing. Also after failing a tailing mission. Got discovered and gunned dead. After that my stuff was gone: weapons, ammo, crafted items, crafting components, collected hacks displayed still as unlocked but didn’t work anymore, etc. Only the cash I had gathered remained safe. Almost felt like the other player looted my stuff after he killed me, heh.

There was no way to fix this problem, except starting a ‘new game’ from scratch, which I did, considering I had only played for maybe 6-8 hours and was still learning the ropes of the game (getting the feel of driving the car, getting used to controls etc.) so not too much was lost.

Restarting the game from scratch is, as far as I am aware, currently the only way to get the weapons and lost features back. Very harsh. I hope they fix it on the double!

  2. Yea I ran into this problem early and ubisoft has done great in the past. Making me rethink getting the division may go back to ,343 and play more halo

  3. Just experienced this problem today, just got on about an hour ago and learned of this bug. I was level 50, had almost all the game completed except the story missions, I wasn’t doing a tailing mission that is the coincidence that every one is siting I was starting Act III, and it was on the Xbox 360 version. Beware 360 users you are not outside the parameters of this bug.
