Wikipedia explains otome dating game as, “An otome game (乙女ゲーム, otome gēmu, literally “maiden game”), is a story-based video game that is targeted towards women. Generally one of the goals, besides the main plot goal, is to develop a romantic relationship between the female player character and one of several male characters.” Otome is a Japanese word meaning young maiden or girl.
Taking the plot of an otome game, the C14 dating game combines archaeology, friendships, and love. In C14, Melissa Flores is the Otome. She is a summer archaeological intern while in her 3rd year of anthropology. She is in Belgium where her field school is located, literally 5000 miles away from California!
In the situation created in C14, you are out of your comfort zone being in an unfamiliar place on the globe. The stay is of two months which can be never-racking. On the other hand, this is a great opportunity to learn in the real world. Your assignment is to dig an authentic prehistoric site, which has uncovered Neanderthal remains.
During your stay, you will be lucky to find some bones in excavation or some early man-manufactured tools. The actual otome theme comes here. Otome anime is a genre of Japanese anime targeted towards female audiences. In Otome anime, the heroine is usually a girl, like Melissa Flores in C14. She just entered adulthood and begins to have romantic relationships for the first time. Here in C14 Melissa Flores will romance with Deandre, Hendrik, Kyler, and Shoji.

When I was trying to romance Kyler, I got the option to show Deandre the soil test, but I can’t get it to show again now that I’m not focused on Kyler. I can get the scene with Kyler to show me the soil test, but the option to show Deandre won’t appear even though I know it. The scene itself shows up, but I the option itself won’t show up. Anyone else has this problem?
