Why Tears Of The Kingdom Metacritic Score Is So High? Our Review

Tears Of The Kingdom Metacritic

Just think what you want from a new Zelda game after Breath of the Wild (BoW). Do you want different monsters? Better places to explore inside the game? Maybe some really surprising new stuff? Or maybe the only thing you want is more of the big game world to check out? The great thing is that you don’t have to just choose one. It’s like Nintendo says, “Yep, we can do that.” The new game, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, doesn’t really change what made Breath of the Wild so good, but it’s not just the same thing again, either. The developers made many improvements that helped the Metacritic Tears Of The Kingdom reach an impressive 96 score.

The game world is bigger, has more cool stuff, and is even more exciting. The new stuff, like making your own vehicles, creating some wild weapons, and a much better map of Hyrule that is really detailed, only add to the fun of exploring what people loved so much in the first game. And, even though it was already really cool, now, Breath of the Wild feels like just a rough start.

Evolution of Gaming Consoles And The Sequel Spectrum

Assuming you experienced a similar gaming concept as I have, the console generation was always very new and exciting. The shift from generation to generation was more of a natural progression and far less pronounced. Still, it should feel the same way unless you can jump from the original NES to the Nintendo Switch and ignore everything in between.

Moreover, throughout the gaming timeline, we have seen some great sequels and absolutely terrible others of our favorite franchises. For instance, there have been some serious ups and downs for Final Fantasy, and even something like Halo can have some bad releases. However, The Legend of Zelda series has survived the test of time.

Why Zelda Tears Of The Kingdom Metacritic Score is So High

The Legend of Zelda’s Consistent Quality

Although there have been some mediocre games throughout the decades, very few people would argue that The Legend of Zelda isn’t one of the most stable franchises in gaming history. And that’s what makes Tears of the Kingdom even more impressive.

Initial Impressions of Tears of the Kingdom

Before its release, many have noticed how the Tears of the Kingdom looked like a BoW DLC. The spirit of a “very faithful likeness to BoW” was dominating. As a result, we are presented with a very similar world using very similar game mechanics, and it is also a sequel to the cult work that will remain in stories.

And once again, we are shown that you shouldn’t judge a game by its trailers. The protracted introduction’s mesmerizing experience is a well-designed, truly brilliant tutorial. It also sends a message: This game is not to be ignored.

New Abilities and Gameplay Mechanics

Tears of the Kingdom delivers new abilities, with all four received during its first few minutes. However, unlike what you might expect, Nintendo does not bother explaining how any of them really work. Instead, it leans into the idea that Tears of the Kingdom is a video game that we, the players, should explore.

Also, while many games nowadays aim to be as realistic as possible, Tears of the Kingdom takes the opposite route. It just gives you fabulous tools and lets you lose to play in this open-world.

Weapon Durability, Puzzle Design, and World Filled with Discovery

Weapon durability is back, but more of a non-issue this time round. Many puzzles are so brilliantly designed to give you a sense of satisfaction that very few games can replicate.

I genuinely believe that even years from now, people will still discover new things in Tears of the Kingdom. No two players on the planet will have the same playthrough experience from the item drops to the random events.

A Look at the Story: An Outstanding Technical Marvel

The story element is the biggest difference between Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom. The story in Tears of the Kingdom is much more memorable, with many voice-acted cutscenes and interesting plot happenings. Honestly, it’s kind of surprising and actually interesting for a Legend of Zelda title!

Moreover, although Tear of the Kingdom was released on an old, outdated, much less powerful console, it is a far better-looking and better-sounding game. It does an exceptional job of being a technically impressive marvel of a game in this day and age where AAA games get pushed to their limit and launch terribly unoptimized games every single year.

Not for Everyone, But Worth Trying

Even though the Tears Of The Kingdom Metacritic score is so high, it is reasonable to say that not everyone will be interested in playing it. Suppose you really aren’t into building things or using your imagination often. In that case, the new powers and abilities might not do much for you. I will say, however, that the Ultrahand abilities add a fantastic new way to spice up the gameplay that has now become a bit more familiar.

Takeaways: Tears Of The Kingdom – Metacritic Score 96

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is an inimitable sequel to one of the best games ever made, astoundingly improving upon its predecessor in seemingly every way. It both reimagines old ground and introduces an array of entirely new regions, so staggeringly vast that it made me reconsider, for the briefest moment, just how large Breath of the Wild’s world was in the first place.
