Nintendo
Nintendo has announced their plans for E3 with a surprising announcement: The Nintendo World Championships will return after a 25 year absence. Nintendo World Championships is a tournament based around Nintendo games and has only been held once before. The previous tournament used a specially made NES cartridge containing competitive versions of Super Mario Bros, Tetris, and Rad Racer and copies of the cartridge have become extremely valuable collectors’ items. At the moment, it’s anyone’s guess what games will be featured in this new tournament. Will they be all new games or will they span Nintendo’s history? The Nintendo World Championships 2015 will be held June 14th and will be open for anyone to enter. Qualifying competitions are set to start on May 30th
This tournament will only be the beginning of their E3 show as they also have their third annual Digital Event scheduled for June 16th at 9 A.M. Pacific time followed by a Treehouse livestream going all day from the 16th to the 18th where they will demonstrate all of their upcoming games. For those that won’t be able to attend E3 and try all the new games themselves, It has partnered with Best Buy once again to bring public demos of Mario Maker at over 120 locations across the United States.
