Halo Wars 2 Announced

Microsoft announced the sequel to 2009’s Halo Wars, the Xbox 360 exclusive real-time strategy game developed by the now-disbanded Ensemble Studios, at Gamescom 2015. Fans have been hankering for a new Halo RTS ever since and it seems they’ll get their wish.

The original Halo Wars was built from the ground up for the Xbox 360 and was one of the few successful outings for an RTS on consoles, receiving generally positive reviews at the time. The game’s multiplayer component is still active to this day, with around 1,000 players online at any one time, according to the game’s statistics.

Halo Wars 2 is being developed by Creative Assembly, the British studio behind the Total War RTS series and the award-winning survival horror game Alien: Isolation. The game will feature “a robust, story-driven campaign and plenty of multiplayer action,” according to the Xbox Wire blog post.

Halo Wars 2 will release simultaneously on Xbox One and Windows 10 in Autumn 2016.
