Xbox One Possibly Getting Original Xbox Backwards Compatibility

Microsoft announced back in June during E3 that the Xbox One would get backwards compatibility, allowing gamers to play a selected number of Xbox 360 titles on their current-gen console.

The feature is yet to grace the consoles of the general public, save for those included in its preview programme, with its official release set for sometime in November. Despite this, the head of Microsoft’s Xbox division, Phil Spencer, has teased on Twitter that the feature may, at some point, encompass original Xbox games, too.

This is no where close to confirmation of any kind, though Spencer’s response seems to suggest they’re certainly thinking about it and that it’s something they’re interested in.

If this was to become a reality, it would surely give the Xbox One a huge leg up on its competitor, the PlayStation 4, which doesn’t currently offer backwards compatibility at all.
