The Order 1886: 5 Reasons Why This Game’s Story is Too Predictable

the-order-1886 gameplay is predictable-vGamerz

The Order 1886 is a greatly anticipated action-adventure game coming out this February. But most of the anticipation might be in vain. Recent information contained in the freshly released story trailer reveals that more than obvious, The Order 1886’s narrative is way too dull and predictable. Here are five reasons why this game’s story won’t be able to amaze anyone.

5. Deadly Supernatural Creatures

The-Order_-1886_Deadly Supernatural Creatures-vGamerzEvery game has its own bad guys and it’s well known for a while that one of the main enemy factions will consist of deadly “half breeds” or in other words, werewolves. But these are not ordinary werewolf creatures, they’re as fast as lightning and as deadly as thunder. It’s a somewhat strange, yet lethal combination that will (hopefully) bring a certain degree of challenge to the game. Or maybe not, with the amount of high-tech weaponry in-game and the common action game difficulty standards, they’ll most likely remain the strongest in cinematic scenes.

The-Order_-1886_Inner Circle Disputes-vGamerz-4. Inner Circle Disputes

The Order appears to be a strong organization from the outside. However, not everything is the way it looks like. The Order’s weaknesses are immense and its integrity will shake when conflict scatters over the inner ranks. But that was something already expected, wasn’t it? The good old stories of boys following strict orders forever and ever have become part of the past, at least in the video game dimension. Also, things become way more exciting when your supposed friends backstab you. Unfortunately, it’s hardly a story nowadays if drama and conflict are not present.

Reasons to play The Order 1886 - The Mission3. The Order’s Mission Will be Jeopardized

For some reason, the main character, Grayson, will oppose his associates, including the Order’s master and he’ll do anything to jeopardize The Order’s plan, whatever that might be. Finding compromising data about The Order might change the whole picture… Nevertheless, the expectable drama keeps on going in a seemingly ordinary way. Would it even be any interesting if no one opposed the rules? Besides, victory tastes better when it’s hard to get or in this case, when it gives further content to an extended and obvious storyline.

 2. Grayson’s Thirst for Vengeance

The old sweet touch of individualism normally comes by the name of vengeance. Just in the last year, we had several popular action games using this type of narrative, take for example Watch Dogs and Thief. Now, why would Order 1886 be any different? It’s a type of story easy to come up with and unfortunately, it works just fine. So, Grayson will pursue his individual quest for revenge. What remains unknown is what type of revenge is it going to be but that’s probably something concerning family or a loved one (isn’t it always?).

reasons to play The Order 1886 - Enemies United 1. Enemies United

Having one enemy faction is tedious, having two enemy factions is usual. However, having both enemy factions united is somewhat bizarre. At first glance, it would seem like an epic challenge coming to life but that doesn’t seem the case. Aside from pure conspiracy, uniting enemies is nothing more than a failed attempt to turn a mediocre story into something impressive and enigmatic. Truth be said, uniting the lethal half breeds with the fearless rebels would create an undefeatable force but we all know that in the end, that’s not what’s going to happen. Because… this game sweats predictability and obviousness.

Well, I know action games are supposed to be about that, the action itself and not the story but… They unveiled like every high spot of the story in one single trailer lol that’s quite bad… i mean the story seems quite bad already and unveiling most of it is a really turn down. At least it has good graphics, cheers

It’s not even predictable anymore since they unveiled it already, it’s just pathetic. A tyranny order with inside conflicts, auto-destructive plans and a bunch of super evil enemies xD where did i see this before? Deja vu.

this is so pointless. just enjoy the game. most movies and most if not all video games are predictable. haha. the story looks interesting and the game play looks solid.

Wow, not sure where to start on this one. I guess I’ll first just point out the obvious, we have only seen roughly 30 minutes of this game, and even that had many of the cut scenes tossed out, so tell me how exactly you’ve come to this conclusion already? You pretty much lost me at this line though:

“Unfortunately, it’s hardly a story nowadays if drama and conflict are not present.”

You do know what a story is right? If you’ve forgotten, I’ll refresh it for you: Stories have a protagonist, which is typically our pov character. This protagonist will come to some kind of conflict, be it internal or external, then the story concludes illlustrating how that conflict changed or altered our protagonist or their perspective. Pretty much every story ever written is exactly that, that’s why stories aren’t typically a paragraph long and reviews tend to take into account more than the most basic bare bones of said stories. The magic of storytelling is all in how a story is written & what it invokes, you could reduce any story into a joke when you subtract everything but the beats that fit whatever narrative your argument presents. If you can name a single story that doesn’t follow those lines, I’d love to hear it. If you can name a single video game that has a story that doesn’t present some kind of conflict, I’ll even email you a cookie.

Either this story was written solely as clickbait or for whatever reason you’d like to find some new way to say the same things that have been said about the game…some way to bash a product that hasn’t even seen the light of day but for whatever reason has become a fashionable target for internet abuse. Seems to me that if anyone paid attention to the games of last year, they would see how wrong most journalists were in choosing what games to hype & praise as most of those were mediocre at best, meanwhile the ones that journalists presented “concerns” about ended up on most game of the year lists. How about you come back and rewrite this piece once you’ve actually played it & see how your predictions panned out?

This gen the stealth trolling of Playstation exclusives by Xbox fans has reached monumental heights. You guys gotta give it a rest, it’s getting pathetic and annoying. It’s to the point where the ratings of a Playstation exclusive has to be taken with a grain of salt because there are too many of you with an agenda. These are consoles, not religions.

I’m no fanboy, I have ps2, psp and ps3 among other consoles. But OH MY GOD that game has boring written all over it. Stereotypes shouting clichés at each other and punching each other. Boring.

    congratulations,
you have written the 1000th negative article about The Order 1886.
    fantastic.

    señora Blanquita,
instead of hating sony, because you have decided to acquire the inferior system, with inferior ports, less titles and exclusives, inferior hardware, inferior software, barely capable of running 720p games, let alone 900p, with no soul, no future, only lies, stunts, PR craap, hate, fake announcements, fake features (where are the games that use the amazing cloud power, to help making huge worlds with amazing visuals and effects??), dumb announcements every single day about a new esram software, another unleashed cpu, another directx development, another great dev team, stealing your money just to play online, since 2005, a huge power brick, dumb tv sports features that only work in north america, with a poor implemented kinekt that fails to recognize a perfectly spelled english word-sentence, 7 times out of 10, a console that was designed with only 32mb of esram, with 720p in mind, upscaled to 1080p, which results in poor inferior versions, running at 720p, with tons of sacrifices, a console from a company that wanted to destroy the gaming industry and hobby, with nazi anti-consumer policies, after designing and selling a broken RROD-ready console, to 15-30 million innocent kids-parents, because the paid us press like ig n, gam espot, pol ygon, etc etc, didn’t even dare talking about the RROD issues, and other scratching discs, over-heat, and many other issues, so people didnt’t stop buying the american console from the american company…
press that since 2006, is trying to kill sony and their consoles, with poor reviews, low scores, etc, while always giving perfect scores to the xbox versions and exclusives.
tell me, where are the articles and reviews with low scores, about Halo anniversary, which gamers can’t play online, because the online is totally broken? yeah, nobody talks about those lethal issues… and the game still gets 9.5-10/10 scores. bravo, american press.

so why, instead of writing craap about sony and sony games, why don’t you ditch your craapy vcr-wannabe 720p no-future xbox one, and buy a fantastic ps4, and enjoy the best next-gen titles, under the best conditions, framerates, resolutions and visuals ?

do you want us to offer you a ps4 ?

will you publish this comment ? of course not.

Probably all stories were told or writen.
And this means if you could read all literature in the world ( or most of the classics) all stories will be predictable.
So as all music, painting, etc. In fact, most of art uses concepts from ancient greek.
The question is not if a story is predictable or not, the question is how this story can capture audience . A story could be told in several ways but just in few ways audience will like it.

It sticks out like a sore thumb how this game is going to turn out. A Gears of War clone with plenty of cut scenes and quick time events. All it has going for it is the graphics, but that’s due to the power of the PS4 anyway, it’s not like you’re going to get crap looking games on the PS4 and Xbox One. This won’t be a day one purchase for me, more so when it can top £60. Not sure how big the game will be, but I’ll wait until it’s been out a while and pick it up cheap used. As with most of Sony’s games, they fall short. On the PS3, I only rated God of War 3, Uncharted and The Last of Us from Sony. I suppose people still get sucked into the hype, more so when it comes to graphics.

Is this article written by a desperate xbox fanboy that can’t accept the fact that xbox will never win a single gen, unlike sony who is about to win 3 out of 4 gens? Seems like it.

yes Sony ”win” console wars.. of course that’s only when you selectively ignore handheld gaming, where Sony has never won and never will. You’ve heard of handheld gaming right? More popular and profitable than consoles these days… where Sony always get their butt handed tothem by Nintendo.. every time..
