Top 5 Scary Moments in Thief

Thief (2014) is a stealth-based game and a revival of the original Thief series. Undoubtedly, stealth and action are the primary genres of this title; however there are also other elements present in the new Thief such as adventure and horror. More than random scares, Thief includes a full chapter dedicated to the horror genre. From minor frightening moments to intense jump scares – Thief has it all. Check out the top five scariest moments in this refreshing reboot.

Thief 20141. Moira Asylum: Entrance Peek

At the start of the fifth chapter, the Forsaken, players have to enter Moira Asylum that appears to be haunted. As Garrett approaches the entrance, the outer doors mysteriously close. The inner doors appear to be sealed, however there’s a peek hole nearby. While Garrett takes a look, Erin’s ghost appears warning him that he shouldn’t be there – it’s a true horror setup, plus the frightening music might give you a decent jump scare.

Thief 20142. Freak Rebellion

Freaks used to be human beings but now they’re some kind of deformed creatures that hide in the shadows. Their first appearance is during chapter fifth at the Moira Asylum’s underground chambers. But it’s when Garrett triggers the Asylum’s alarm that the creatures inside the cell blocks go wild. It’s actually quite scary to see Garrett getting dragged by the creepy freak hands.

Thief 20143. Mannequin Tricks

In one of the foundry rooms during chapter two, Dust to Dust, there’s a suspicious mannequin sitting in an old chair. As players approach to collect the nearby item, the dummy will suddenly rotate its head towards players. It might not seem scary by itself but the remainder elements make it much worse – darkness, fog, dead bodies… and a moving mannequin – the perfect scenario for a successfully scare.

Thief 20144. Escaping Hell

After acquiring the primal stone in the sixth chapter, Garrett needs to get out of the manor, the sewers and then cross a bridge. It seems simple enough, except the whole place is burning up and falling apart. The secret is to keep going and never look back. Despite the intense action, things can get a bit scary at times with roofs falling, floors collapsing and flames as high as a living hell.

Thief 20145. The Foundry: Follow the Dead

During the second chapter, players will find themselves stuck inside a foundry filled with human toys and dead bodies. The environment is particularly creepy and there’s an incessant sensation that something terrifying is about to happen. However, in the end all you have to do is find your way out. As usual in horror, the begining is nothing but an imminent warning of what’s coming next.

Thief: What Happened to Erin?

Square Enix’s Thief revolves around Erin and her mysterious disappearance after falling into an energy beam at the start of the game. Garrett’s attempt to save her was in vain and guilt has been haunting him ever since. As the storyline goes on, we learn about the existence of a magical entity with devastating powers, the primal energy, which is within Erin’s body since the incident. As soon as Garrett suspects Erin might be alive, he follows her old tracks in a desperate attempt to unveil the past and the truth itself. But in the end, no matter how many answers he finds, there’s always a ceaseless question – what has truly happened to Erin? That’s a question that has intrigued me endless times because everything related to Erin becomes an enigma, a supposition, a paradox… and the true facts only come out at the very end of the story.

One of Garrett’s visions, where Erin appears and challenges him to find the truth.

Signs: She’s Alive

Garrett assumes Erin is dead but he knows something is not right. Since the incident things were never the same again. In fact, he can’t even remember where he has been in the past year. Eventually, he starts getting visions of Erin in a gloomy environment, where she is usually scared in pain and remembering him of how he let her slip away into the other side. At first, it appears to be signs of pure guilt kicking in but soon enough, we understand that there’s more into it. The supposed deluded visions are in fact messages from Erin herself that uses her primal energy to connect with Garrett. They were both exposed to the matter when it exploded, therefore Garrett’s eye changing to green upon his return.

Erin survived but she’s a mere slave of a new identity – the primal energy.

The Monster Within

Erin didn’t die but she’s surely not the same anymore. The primal energy within her body transformed her into something… dark and malicious. It’s true that Erin is alive but she’s nothing more than a dull shadow of her old self. She became a living weapon, a terrifying being at the verge of breakdown. Her thief skills were replaced by the imminent ability of turning humans into husk freaks. However, this enigmatic magic is suspected to hold incredible powers when properly attuned. As so, Erin was held prisoner by Orion at Moira Asylum. He conducted innumerous experiments in hope to extract the energy from her body in order to cure the people of the gloom. This traumatic experience turned Erin into a wicked monster unable to control any type of feelings and emotions.

The circumstances repeat themselves.

Saving Primal Erin

Close to the end, it is unveiled that Erin holds a death sentence and it’s crucial to extract the energy from her body before it becomes too late. To perform this ritual the caster must rely on the primal crystal and the sacred tools (book and wand). Garrett is not ready to lose her again and he’s forced to fight a Primal Erin, who’s completely blinded by hate. She thinks the master thief wants to steal the energy for himself, so she puts all her powers into stopping the ritual. The storyline closes with Erin slipping away again but this time Garret manages to save her by successfully extracting the energy. Erin’s fate is not clear but everything indicates that she fell into the water and survived. The very fact that The City wasn’t destroyed reveals that the primal energy didn’t go loose. Furthermore, Erin’s claw reappears embedded in the wood beam close to Garrett, meaning that someone had to place it there. If there’s going to be another Thief reboot, then Erin is surely coming back.

It’s not everyone who gets the luxury of having a second chance, for Garrett a second chance to save his friend and for Erin a second chance to live. Even if the whole concept has several loop holes, this is a great story of how friendship can move worlds and change lives. It’s also a remarkable lesson of redemption and attunement.

Thief: How to Defeat Primal Erin (Final Boss)

Square Enix’s Thief features only two bosses during the whole game but they can be tricky, in many ways. The final boss is Erin in a primal state, she is possessed by the primal essence and she will do anything to stop you from recovering the primal fragments in the last chapter, The Dawn’s Light. This boss is easier than it seems, all you have to do is recover the three crystals and dodge Erin’s attacks. Learn the main tactics and strategy to defeat Primal Erin.

The second fragment is just a bit forward from t he first one.

1. Recover the Primal Fragments

To accomplish this boss fight you don’t need to use any skills or weapons. On the other hand, you’ll need to adopt a strict stealth posture. The three fragments are dispersed across the room and you’ll need to move a lot in order to get them all. If you move clockwise, you can recover one by one without any confusion or mistake. Start by going left when the mission starts and you’ll immediately see the first fragment floating int he air. Move a bit towards northeast and the crystal is yours. To get the second crystal, you’ll need to keep heading northeast -run straight forward from the first fragment’s location, then a bit to the right and you can’t possibly miss it. The third fragment is in the lower level, from your current position you just have to move forward a bit and drop down. When you reach the lower level rotate your camera and you’ll find the last fragment floating just behind you.

2. Dodge Erin’s Blasts

Finding the three fragments is not the hardest task during this boss fight for sure. Primal Erin will systematically cast primal blasts of energy that will damage or even kill you if you don’t take cover. Whenever she prepares an attack you should immediately hide behind any environmental object such as crates and pillars. Note that a direct impact will inflict huge amounts of damage upon Garrett.

Don’t approach Erin’s clones, they’ll damage you.

3. Avoid Primal Erin’s Clones

When you pick up the second fragment, Erin will get in a furious state and she’ll summon numerous clones. These mini Erins aren’t as strong as the original one but you surely want to avoid them.

4. Watch Your Health

If your health gets below half, then you should eat food and restore it as soon as possible. If by any chance Erin manages to directly hit you, the most probable result is that Garrett won’t survive.

This mission is not timed and you can take any other pick order you wish, however this is probably the most simple and efficient tactic to defeat Primal Erin.

Thief 2014 Unlimited Money Cheat / Glitch

I am sure that for every thief out there the prospect of having unlimited money sounds like a dream come true and this is exactly what we have to share with you in this article: a Thief 2014 unlimited money cheat / glitch that anyone can access (at least until the game is patched – IF the developers decide to remove this), so the faster you are, the better.

So how to get a lot of money and loot in Thief 2014?

You need to get the Ector’s Client Job 1: Hand Tailored side mission in the game (sometime during the 4th and 5th story missions of Thief 2014). In this mission, you need to collect some unique items. But if you don’t do it, you get a chance to restart it but keep all the loot. The mission gives you about 250 gold coins per try and takes about 10 minutes to complete (you should not waste the arrows to take down enemies, instead use the club – that’s why it takes a bit longer, but it’s worth it). Depending on how much time you have on hand or how much money you want to get in the game, you can get more or less gold. We’d go for more to upgrade everything in the shop and have a much easier game.

I really hope that this money cheat / glitch for Thief 2014 helps you!

How to Fix Thief 2014 Crashes, Graphics Stuttering and Problems

The highly anticipated release of Thief (2014) has come and gamers all over the world are stealthing their ways out from and into the shadows. However, not all players are as lucky to enjoy a flawless experience, and some reports are coming from upset gamers who encounter, except for the enemies, Thief crashes, stuttering and other game problems.

We are here to try and give you a helping hand if you’re one of those affected and in this article we’re going to try to find out how to fix Thief 2014 crashes, stutters and other issues. Because this is indeed a game that must be enjoyed to the max!

1. How to fix Thief crashes after loading a stage
The good way out of this would be to check your game’s integrity in Steam. Quit Steam, do a check, quit Steam, do a check again. If this is not working, some forum users are reporting that increasing their Virtual Memory allocation somehow does the trick for them, so you should try it too.

2. How to fix Thief 2014 random crashes and system reboot
The game has been already patched, so make sure you have downloaded and installed the latest game patch. It might also be caused by the graphics card drivers you are using – make sure you download and use the latest version of drivers (try the Beta drivers, optimized for Thief 2014).

3. How to fix Thief stuttering and graphics performance
People are complaining that for a game that isn’t the best looking one of the new gen, it uses up a lot of resources and is poorly optimized, resulting in the game stuttering and generally dropping the FPS rate. If you experience such issues, the first thing you should do would be tuning down the graphics.

If you get these problems especially during your visits to the districts, try to disable the levelstreaming in the ini file (Steam\SteamApps\common\Thief\ThiefGame\Config\ThiefEngine.ini). This will surely help!

Finally, check out the SSAA settings. Keeping these as low as possible will improve your game’s experience. Usually, simply tuning this setting down will result in a much better game experience.

For now these are the fixes for the Thief 2014 crashes and stuttering of the graphics. Probably the developers of the game will do some tweaking and optimization and soon we’ll have a new patch that will improve the frame rates and hopefully reduce the number of crashes. Until then, use our recommended fixes and you should do fine!
