CEO Yves Guillemot was in an investor’s call yesterday and he explained why digital games’ price stay the same on PSN and XBL instead of matching other online retailer’s offers such as Amazon or eBay. He stated that PC tends to do better in terms of digital sales than consoles while consoles do better in the physical sales. Guillemot says that they depend on its sales once the game is one or two years old which means that the game isn’t as available at retailers as it was at launch.
“Digital is more reactive than what we put in stores, but at the same time, it doesn’t react as fast on consoles than it does on PC,” Guillemot admitted.
“What we can say is that when games are older than one year, digital is a lot more dynamic on console because there are less units in stores. It’s a new business, a new trend, and we think all this will get more in line with time, but for sure, at the moment you see all sorts of prices depending on who is doing a promotion for that specific week.”
Ubisoft CFO Alain Martinez responded saying that lowering the price of digital sales to become lower than physical won’t happen but after a couple of weeks of the game’s release “things can change.”
“On digital we will not sell [a game] for a lower price compared to physical. After a few weeks or few months things can change, and as Yves has been saying, sometime you might have a promotion on Amazon [that is] not on GameStop, but we can also react on its side,” added Ubisoft CFO Alain Martinez.
“We are actually more aggressive on the PC side where digital is very, very strong. We tend to be more conservative on the digital side for more console and more flexible on PC.”
Do you think that this is a good strategy or should they try to balance both prices’ ? Tell us in the comment section. (Credit: VG247)
Fans of EA’s parkour-action-RPG series, if that’s even a word, Mirror’s Edge then you will love what they have put in the Mirror’s Edge Catalyst Collector’s Edition for you. Yoshinori Ono, executive producer of the iconic franchise Street Fighter, gave more details about its upcoming chapter, Street Fighter V. Yesterday, during an event held by Warner Bros. Games, EA and Capcom on São Paulo, Brazil, Ono appeared on a video and confirmed a Brazilian stage for the next installment.
Inspired by a neighborhood in Rio de Janeiro, its iconic monument Cristo Redentor has been replaced by the World Cup trophy. Ironically, today is the one-year anniversary of Brazil’s 7×1 defeat.
During the transmission, Yoshinori Ono was dressed normally, with a Street Fighter shirt. However, after presenting footage of the Brazilian stage, he hinted that a certain Brazilian character could also appear… and then video returns to him, Ono is dressed as Blanka! Although the hint to the electric beast is obvious, his official reveal is dated for October, when Yoshinori Ono himself will be attending Brasil Game Show and will announce the character.
Six characters have been confirmed for Street Fighter V: Ryu, Chun Li, Charlie (Nash), M. Bison, Birdie and Cammy. The two last characters were revealed during Sony’s pre-E3 conference this year.
Also, Siliconera reported that inside sources informed that Street Fighter III’s characters Alex and Urien will also be revealed in the near future, but Capcom hasn’t confirmed the rumour yet. Street Fighter V is in development and will be released for Playstation 4 and PC.

The movie is based upon the legendary robot, Mega Man’s newest game coming in September, Mighty No.9. The movie is from Legendary Digital Media, Contradiction Films and Comcept.
Comcept’s CEO and the responsible for Mighty No.9‘s existence, Keiji Inafune, commented on the collaboration between Legendary Digital with Contradiction as a “really amazing” duo.
“The announcement that Legendary Digital is collaborating with Contradiction and comcept on creating a live-action project based on Mighty No. 9 is really amazing, not only for myself and the rest of the team at comcept who worked on the game, but also for all the fans who have supported the project,” said Inafune.
“This collaboration will give our creation the ability to reach people all over the world. Thanks to all of your support, we have fulfilled another one of our dreams.”

The app is called Project Ascension that aims to unify all other PC game clients including the business’ title holder, Steam and others like EA’s Origin and Ubisoft’s uPlay. Project Ascension is developed by 18 volunteer members and they are doing their best to launch a Beta phase of the app this Fall.
“Project Ascension is an open-source launcher made by the community, for the community. We are not attempting to replace any other pre-existing launchers or programs, such as Steam, Origin, uPlay, etc. We are promoting competition through the unification of multiple storefronts, ultimately making it better for you, the consumer.”
“Project Ascension is an open-source launcher and all of the in-development code is available for viewing and compiling at any time on our GitHub. An open-beta is scheduled to be held in Fall 2015, meaning everybody will be able to download a beta version of the launcher, test it, and report bugs.”
They also published a short video featuring how the UI looks and works so far.
I am excited to see this app published since it will make the lives of many PC gamers so much easier. Uniting all the game clients under one roof, as they put it, will save a lot of time and help gamers find the best deals on their desired game.

Victor Vran is an upcoming (and I use that term loosely) action role-playing title developed by Haemimont Games. It’s been in early access on Steam since February which one of our authors detailed in 10 Best Early Access Games on Steam Right Now.
I am pleased to announce that it has a final release date! Mark your calendar for the 24th July and celebrate. That is right. 24th July on PC, Mac and Linux. If you’re looking for a role-playing game that is a little bit different, then I definitely suggest you check it out.
The game combines a few of my favorite things – a gothic fantasy world, science and magic mixing together, demons to battle, and being able to freely change weapon classes and not be locked into one type of ‘job.’
Want to play alone? That’s cool. Want to join up with a friend and play co-operative multiplayer? You can do that too!
Not too convinced by my words? Just check out the story trailer below and tell me that doesn’t look awesome! If you’re a fan of the Hunter: The Reckoning Games you will definitely enjoy this.
