PlayStation goes Retro In New Flash Sale… Mostly

Sony has just surprised the masses with another flash sale. The theme this week? Retro. From PS1 classics to modern PS4 titles, Sony has not only discounted many great games, but they’ve forgotten the definition of retro entirely…

Fear not Sony, there is always next week to correct yourself. I’ll forgive you, but I’ll never forget.

Here are some of my favourite picks from this week’s sale.

Trials Fusion – For the masochists that adore unending challenge and horrific theme songs. This game is an absolute doozy.

Call Of Juarez: Gunslinger – At last, a return to the basics in one of the best downloadable shooters on the market. Unique scenarios with ever-changing battlefields will have you itching for just one more round to beat out your best score.

From Dust – A beautiful and simple game with you guiding a tribe of men and women to their safety while literally molding the earth around them. A unique and interesting concept that has been all too forgotten as of late.

OlliOlli 2: Welcome To Olliwood – For the skate fans that are sick to death of Tony Hawk’s ‘inventive’ new ways to play awful games. OlliOlli 2 is as addictive as it is excellent.

Child Of Light – A beautiful, hand painted RPG where every piece of dialogue is a part of a poem. Surprisingly depthy battle system, wonderfully lush locales to explore, and a light-hearted yet endearing story to behold. Child Of Light is one of the best Ubisoft titles in years.

Playstation Flash Sale: Sci-Fi Madness

As an avid discount gamer, I get anxious for all of the new flash sales Sony is dropping on a pretty regular basis. They cover a wide variety of genres and the sales are generally pretty great. That’s why, from now on I will be covering each and every flash sale until the end of our solar system, when the sun inevitably explodes and swallows us whole.

On that gloomy note, don’t miss out on the great deals while you still have a planet to inhabit! Here is a rundown of some of the best choices.

Flash sale
Alien: Isolation + Season Pass Bundle – For those of you who like discounts and disembowelment.

Geometry Wars 3: Dimensions Evolved – Calling all Masochists. The wait for Dark Souls III will be  a long one, so if you are missing being mad and smashing your controller into tiny pieces, this is your new best friend.

Borderlands: The Handsome Collection – If you need to waste five hundred hours for some strange reason, Borderlands always has you covered.

Final Horizon – Remember disappointing your parents with low grades that can be in part blamed on Kongregate’s excessive tower defence library? Relive the agony with this gem.

Gradius Collection – Do you think the PSP is the best handheld ever made? Do you want to prove to your friends that the PSP is indeed the best handheld ever made? Do you want to make the PSP a relevant handheld in 2015? Gradius is for you. Nothing screams ‘Best handheld’ like playing ported games from well over a decade ago.
